Have you often gone in circles in your thoughts? The truth is, no matter how many times we say we understand ourselves, we lack it. After a certain period of time, the curiosity to know, to question our own path gets deeper and deeper. We are in such a social circle where everyone’s perspective matters at a point of time. No wonder, we see things from a family perspective, social perspective and financial perspective.
To be honest, nothing is wrong or right. It’s just circumstances. Having said that whenever you feel quite uncomfortable and seeking peace, then it’s obvious to look within. At the end of life, no one will ask you if you were a doctor, an engineer, or an accountant. No one will see how many degrees you earned or how much money you made until you genuinely share your unique success with others.
Write down your own obituary
It’s such a great concept to write your own obituary and imagine how you want to be viewed in the coffin. What do you want people to say about you? Think about the situation for a while. You know you are dead, and you are lying there. Your spirit can see and hear what people are discussing about you, but no one can see you. Imagine your children, your partner, your neighbours, your friends, your employers, colleagues, and people you’ve never met before. Take into account even the media. Imagine as far as you are able with your imagination. The point is not whether these people speak positively or negatively about you. After your death, it’s unlikely that people would say anything unkind about you. Well the point is that whatever they say whether or not is aligned with your soul. Are the words truly bringing peace to your soul?
Imagine all your life, you loved planting flowers. That’s something you used to do in your spare time. Professionally you worked something out of your basic nature. Whenever someone in your neighbourhood or family was sick, or someone’s birthday came, or just a simple hello to new neighbours, your thought was to present a bouquet of flowers. Imagine you kept serving people out of your passion. Now when you die, you hear people saying, “they have never seen such a kind soul in their entire life who brought so many colours in their life through flowers. In the future it’s hard to get such a beautiful kind hearted soul”. They appreciated who you were from your heart, not what you did for your earnings. It was just an example. It doesn’t matter what you get by following your passion as long as it gives you peace and helps people in their betterment, it’s all good.
Respect your own individuality and of others
Respect individuals. When you know who you are, you are more likely to comprehend who others are. When you understand your own boundaries, you start respecting others’ boundaries. It’s all start here, from within, and reaches out to people who come into your contact. How beautiful is that the circle of within gets wider and wider, when you work within (on your inner-self). The day you lose your centered within point, that circle starts diminishing.
Question to your soul
Whenever you have time once in a week or two, take your own interview with yourself. Take a notepad and a pen. You must separate your body from your soul in your brain. Make your body question to your soul. Imagine yourself seated in an interview where you are questioned, or as a big celebrity representing the entire public for them. It’s fun. Filter your thoughts through this interview process. See what you get.
There you go with some thoughtful questions. You can add more as per your preference.
Question 1: Who am I?
Question 2: Do my actions define me?
Question 3: Do I feel content when I am around my “inner-self” as defined in question number 1 and 2?
Question 4: If your answer is “yes” to question number 3, then you should inquire further “am I seeking to make it my professional career?” If yes, then why?
Question5: If your answer is “no” to question number 3, reflect back and ask yourself, “shouldn’t I enquire about question number 1 again?”
Question 6: Am I surrounding myself with people who align with my “Inner-self”? They could be through books or media platforms.
Question 7: Am I still interested in doing what I am doing despite many AI applications and career obstacles?
Question 8: Am I changing my passion often based on circumstances or making it interesting by being more creative?
Remember every answer is valid as long as you know who you really are. The value of being in your circle of “inner-self” is priceless indeed. Outer circumstances change, but what brings peace to your soul stays the same and defines who you are. For example, Sachin Tendulkar, a renowned Indian former international cricketer, loves cricket. That’s what his real self is. It doesn’t matter what you get out of your passion (inner-self), the first thing you get out of your “inner-self” is abundance of peace and contentment. Life’s invaluable assets!!!
